MY JOURNEY

My journey began many years ago. As a little girl, I longed for beautiful flowers in my yard, like that of my neighbors.  So, one day I decided to take some sunflower seeds and plant them under our tree.  I thought if I prayed the seeds would grow into beautiful flowers. Unfortunately, I didn't know then that you had to water the seeds you planted.  However, twenty years later, I was reintroduced to gardening by my mother-in-love, Inez Finley who charged me to care for her flower garden.  She gave me a small 5-inch Japanese Maple to plant and care for.  It was this beautiful moment that enabled me to discover and rekindle my love for flowers, gardening and horticulture.  I went on to take classes at New York Botanical Gardens and shortly thereafter Lily of the Valley Floral Design was born. From that time to now, over 20 years, I have done small weddings, church events and I would provide landscape services for businesses and homes that included business front-scape as well as home-scape designs.

WHY THE NAME LILY OF THE VALLEY FLORAL DESIGN?

As a Christian, Jesus Christ is the center of my faith. He is often referred to as “The Lily of the Valley.” Symbolically the lily represents hope. It represents hope that even in the valley experiences and challenging places of your life, Jesus will be with you and see you through it. During this pandemic Lily of the Valley Floral Design has ministered to hurting people through flowers during times of loss and grief. In addition, my mother, Lois V. Hallman’s birthday is in the month of May. The lily of the valley is the birth flower for the month of May. Thus, the name also serves to honor her and her memory.

WHO IS PAMELA HALLMAN-JOHNSON?

I am the wife of over 33 years to Reginald J. Johnson and the mother of our three beautiful daughters Ashley Nicole, Chelsea Carrington, and Kennedy Faith. I am a Special Education High School English Teacher. I served and completed my second term as a School Board Trustee for the Peekskill City School District. I hold a Paralegal Studies Certification, a B.B.A. in Accounting, a M.S. in Adolescent Education, a M.S. in Educational Leadership, an Advanced Certificate in School Building Leadership, an Advanced Certificate in School District Leadership, and a Professional Certification in Race, Equity and Leadership in Schools from Harvard University Graduate School of Education's Professional Studies Program, a NY Flower School Certification and I am currently in pursuit of my M. Div. in Biblical Studies. 

I am the founder and owner of Lily of the Valley Floral Design, Inc.  I am an Ambassador for Christ.  I am a member of Faith Bible Church.  I am also a partner of Enlightened Ministries International. 

PS - That Japanese Maple rests in my backyard today.  It stands over 25 feet tall, vibrant and beautiful to remind me of the gift my mother-in-love rekindled in me.
